If September Won’t Stop Raining, At Least We Can Innovate

It’s the last Tuesday of September. Outside: rain, traffic, and umbrellas flipping inside out.

And yet—this is the perfect day to talk about innovation. Why? Because if we only thought about it on sunny Fridays, we’d just call it wishful thinking.

Reimagining rain protection: Meet Umbrella 2.0, the resilient defense against wind and weather, inspired by the playful spirit of rubber ducks.

Innovation isn’t always about robots, AI, or that colleague who brings in colour-coded spreadsheets that look like modern art. Sometimes, innovation is just finding a way to look at the same grey Tuesday differently.

👉 For example:

  • Umbrella 2.0 – designed not to collapse in the exact moment you need it most.

  • Meeting filters – an AI that automatically exits you from calls that should have been an email.

  • Finance fashion tech – heels that calculate ROI based on steps walked in the office.

Sounds ridiculous? Maybe. But every big idea starts as a “what if” whispered over coffee (or tea, if you’re on your third espresso already).

In finance innovation often means daring to question the default settings. Why do we report like this? Why do we budget like that? Why do we keep pretending Excel doesn’t have a limit?

So today, while the rain drums on your window and you’re wondering if September is trying to test your resilience—remember: innovation doesn’t need perfect weather. It needs curiosity, a dash of humor, and just enough rebellion to ask: what if we did this differently?

And if all else fails, innovate your afternoon snack drawer. Trust me, dark chocolate is still one of the best R&D investments out there.
